A Swim Against the Tide is about David McKinstry's 21-year struggle to adopt children. His ordeal was made more difficult by not hiding the fact that he is homosexual. However, this isn't a gay book. It is about perseverance and triumph. It is an inspirational story about a man trying desperately to give children a home. Any person who was adopted would empathize with his tale.
